Enviromental footprint

Sodium is primarily extracted through the electrolysis of molten sodium chloride, commonly known as table salt.
In this process, salt is heated in an electrolytic cell until it melts.
When an electric voltage is applied to the molten salt, sodium ions migrate to the cathode, where they are reduced to pure sodium.
The extracted sodium is then cooled and prepared for use in various applications, including sodium-ion batteries.

The next generation of batteries – how do they work?

NATEC batteries from ACCUPOWER use advanced sodium-ion technology, which in its functionality is similar to the well-known lithium-ion batteries, but uses sodium instead of lithium. In these batteries, sodium ions circulate between a cathode made of sodium metal oxides and an anode made of carbon materials, enabling the charging and discharging process.

Electrolyte: A specially formulated electrolyte promotes the rapid movement of sodium ions, electrically insulates, and extends the battery’s service life.

Functionality: When charging, sodium ions move to the anode and are stored there. When discharging, they return to the cathode, releasing energy. This reversible reaction enables a long-lasting and stable power supply.

Safety and stability: NATEC batteries are particularly temperature-resistant and safe, with a lower risk of overheating and higher thermal stability than traditional batteries.
