    Worldwide shipping of dangerous goods

We are not only experts in mobile energy technology (batteries and charging technology), but also experts in shipping batteries (dangerous goods) and are happy to support and advise our customers in this regard.

Our experts in this comprehensive field have the necessary certifications for shipping dangerous goods.

We make sure that worldwide shipping is safe and legally compliant.
We offer this service exclusively to our customers.

    Information for customers

Certain substances or objects are classified as ‘dangerous goods’ because their properties pose a risk to human life or health, to animals, or to property or the environment during transport.

Comprehensive intergovernmental agreements, in combination with Austrian legal regulations, guarantee the safe handling of these transports.
Among other things, they regulate the classification, packaging, labelling and documentation of dangerous goods.

They also contain the applicable regulations for training the relevant personnel in correct behaviour and the legal requirements regarding vehicle construction and equipment.

Companies that ship, transport, fill, package, load or unload dangerous goods in accordance with ADR, RID, IMDG, IATA-ICAO or ADN regulations (with the exception of unloading at the final destination) must appoint one or more qualified persons with their consent as safety advisors for the transport of dangerous goods (dangerous goods officers).

    Shipping of dangerous goods

    Transport of batteries and cells
In dangerous goods legislation, a distinction is made between primary and secondary batteries (AccuPacks) and primary and secondary cells, particularly in the case of lithium batteries/AccuPacks.

    Batteries (AccuPacks): Primary or secondary
‘Batteries’ are defined as two or more cells that are electrically connected to each other.
They are equipped with devices that are necessary for their use
(e.g. battery terminals, battery housings, marking and protective devices, etc.).

    • Primary: non-rechargeable (UN3090 / UN3091)
    • Secondary: rechargeable (UN3480 / UN3481)

    Cells (individual cells)
A single battery is considered a ‘cell’ and must be tested accordingly in accordance with the test requirements for a cell and for the purposes of these regulations, as well as the requirements in accordance with subsection 38.3 of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria.

    • Primary: non-rechargeable (UN3090 / UN3091)
    • Secondary: rechargeable (UN3480 / UN3481)

    Note:

Nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries (UN3496) are currently only classified as dangerous goods in sea freight.
Important special regulations (SV963 IMDG / A199 – DGR IATA-ICAO) – please also refer to our guidelines for the transport of UN3496.

    Worldwide Shipping

Important additional information about lithium-ion batteries UN3480:

From 1 April 2016, secondary Li-ion batteries/cells may only be offered for transport by air freight with a state of charge (SoC) of 30% of their design capacity and may only be transported on cargo aircraft. Therefore, all air freight goods must also be labelled with the ‘CAO’ (Cargo Aircraft Only) sticker!

If you are looking for a compatible reconditioning machine for 30% SoC, please contact us.
A compatible flyer for the 2-channel battery testing machine can be found in the download area.
