    Information for customers

Certain substances or objects are designated as “dangerous goods” because, due to their properties, they are considered a danger to the life or health of humans and animals or a risk of damage to property or the environment during transport.

Extensive intergovernmental conventions in combination with Austrian legislation guarantee the safe handling of these transports.
Among other things, they regulate the classification, packaging, labelling and documentation of dangerous goods.

In addition, they contain the valid regulations for training the responsible personnel in the correct behaviour as well as the legal requirements regarding vehicle construction and equipment.

Companies that dispatch, transport, fill, pack and load or unload dangerous goods (with the exception of unloading at the final destination) in accordance with the regulations pursuant to ADR, RID, IMDG, IATA-ICAO or ADN shall appoint one or more qualified persons as safety advisers for the transport of dangerous goods (dangerous goods safety advisers) with their consent.

    Dispatch of dangerous goods

    Transport of batteries and cells
In dangerous goods legislation, a distinction is made between primary or secondary batteries (battery packs) and primary or secondary cells, especially in the case of lithium batteries/battery packs.

Batteries (battery packs): Primary or secondary.
Batteries” are two or more cells that are electrically connected to each other.
They are equipped with devices that are necessary for their use
(e.g. battery terminals, battery cases, marking and protection devices, etc.).

    • primary: non-rechargeable (UN3090 / UN3091)
    • secondary: rechargeable (UN3480 / UN3481)

    Cells (single cells)
A single cell battery is considered to be a “cell” and must be tested accordingly in accordance with the testing requirements for a cell and for the purposes of these Regulations and the requirements in accordance with sub-section 38.3 of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria.

    • primary: non-rechargeable (UN3090 / UN3091)
    • secondary: rechargeable (UN3480 / UN3481)

    Remark:

Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries (UN3496) are currently only dangerous goods in sea freight.
Important special regulations (SV963 IMDG / A199 – DGR IATA-ICAO) – see also our guide for transport of UN3496.

Important additional note on lithium-ion batteries UN3480:

As of 1 April 2016, secondary Li-ion batteries / cells may only be offered for transport by air freight with a state of charge (SoC) of 30% of the design capacity and may only be transported on cargo aircraft, therefore all air freight goods must additionally be labelled with the “CAO” (Cargo Aircraft only) sticker!

If you are looking for a suitable preparation machine on 30% SoC, please contact us.

    Quality control

    Worldwide shipping

During the production process, each cell is individually checked both optically and technically before it is processed further.

    One by one

We also check and record each battery individually before delivery.
This double quality control ensures the quality of our products for our customers.
All batteries have an individual serial number to ensure traceability.
In addition, we offer our customers special readout options that can be used to read out the health status of the respective battery.

    Individual challenges

Our particular strength lies in dealing with individual requirements.
Positive as well as negative feedback is immediately analysed and taken into account in our quality management system for the continuous improvement of the company. In addition, we naturally strive to comply with all specified legal and self-imposed obligations.
